Selecting A DJ Music Suggestions Example Wedding

Below is a simple timeline to show the basic progression of a standard 5-hour wedding reception.

6:00 - 7:30  Dinner and Cocktails -- The DJ plays soft background music and makes any appropriate announcements.

7:30 - 7:45  Cake and Toast -- The DJ will announce the events and provide the microphone for the toast.

7:45 - 8:00  Grand March and First Dances -- The DJ emcees the Grand March of the Wedding Party and begins the dance with the first dances.

8:00 - 8:15  Quick Hits -- The DJ starts the dance music with 3 to 5 upbeat songs.

8:15 - 8:45  Bouquet Toss, Garter Removal and Toss, Dollar Dance

8:45 - 9:00  Group Dances - Mix of several icebreaker dances including Chicken Dance, Hokey Pokey, Electric Slide, etc.

9:00 - 11:00  PARTY TIME!! - DJ plays popular songs and audience requests until the end of the evening.
